Project Halo

Project Halo is the direct family support and safety initiative of Halo & Hollow, created to assist autistic individuals, special needs children, and their caregivers through personalized, practical, and crisis focused support services. The program was developed to address the overwhelming lack of accessible autism related resources available to many families, particularly within underserved and rural communities.

Project Halo focuses on immediate family needs that directly impact safety, stability, and quality of life. Services are individualized based on each family’s unique circumstances and may include elopement prevention support, home safety assessments, layered safety recommendations, sensory informed environmental modifications, communication tools, specialized nutritional assistance, medical and adaptive supply assistance, resource navigation, and connections to community based services.

A major focus of Project Halo is reducing the risk of wandering and elopement among autistic and developmentally disabled children. Many families live in a constant state of fear due to children leaving the home unexpectedly, entering unsafe environments, or lacking the ability to communicate identifying information during emergencies. Project Halo works alongside caregivers to develop realistic and personalized safety plans designed to reduce crisis situations and improve emergency preparedness within the home and community.

In addition to safety supports, Project Halo recognizes the significant emotional, financial, and logistical burdens placed on caregivers. Families often struggle to access specialized foods, nutritional supplements, adaptive equipment, developmental resources, behavioral services, educational guidance, and other supports necessary to meet their child’s needs. Through direct assistance, advocacy, and community partnerships, Project Halo aims to help bridge those gaps while strengthening overall family stability.

Project Halo serves as the hands on, family centered support branch of Halo & Hollow by providing practical interventions, compassionate guidance, and individualized assistance designed to help families feel safer, more supported, and less alone in navigating autism and developmental disabilities.
